Lots of news coming out of the two Democratic campaigns for Lieutenant Governor over the last couple of days. First from the campaign of Jody Wagner.
Wednesday, Wagner received the endorsements of the Arlington Coalition of Police; the Arlington Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics (IAFF Local 2880); and the Fairfax Coalition of Police. Here is a video announcing this.Vodpod videos no longer available.
Later in the day came the announcement of the endorsement of the Richmond Crusade for Voters, a group founded in 1956 to “increase effective black participation in Richmond’s political progress.” From that release:
Richmond Councilwoman Betty Squire remarked: “As a longtime member of the Richmond Crusade for Voters and a Richmond City Councilperson, I am proud to stand with Jody Wagner as our next Lt. Governor. As a member of the Warner and Kaine administrations, Jody offers the voters of Richmond and the Commonwealth a combination of experience and fresh ideas for creating new jobs, improving public education, and expanding access to health care for children. There’s only one candidate I trust to be Virginia’s next Lt. Governor, and that’s Jody Wagner.”
Today, U.S. Rep. Rick Boucher announced his endorsement of Wagner, becoming the second Congressman to endorse.
Yesterday, the campaign of Mike Signer released this YouTube video of his online organizing.
The accompanying press release also noted that Signer has been endorsed by several Virginia bloggers.
Today, the Signer campaign announced the endorsement of Leslie Byrne, the party’s 2005 nominee for LG. From the press release:
“Mike has the fire in the belly to defeat Bill Bolling,” said Byrne. “He’s a strong progressive who will fight—and win—on the great Democratic values of social justice and economic fairness. He’s done it before, when he was senior strategist to Tom Perriello in his race, and he’ll do it again this November.”
Both Wagner and Signer will be in attendance at my 4th Annual Memorial Day Bash.
